Personal Development
The personal development of pupils at Lodge Primary School is at the centre of our school values. By nurturing our children’s personal development skills, we strive to prepare them for their adult lives, teaching them to understand how to engage with society and providing them with plentiful opportunities to do so.
Our curriculum extends beyond the academic and supports pupils to develop in many diverse aspects of life. We aim to provide the essential knowledge that pupils need to be educated citizens, preparing pupils for their adult lives, teaching them to understand how to engage with society and providing them with plentiful opportunities to do so.
We offer opportunities for pupils to explore and develop their own values and beliefs, spiritual awareness, high standards of personal behaviour, a positive caring attitude towards other people, an understanding of their social and cultural traditions and an appreciation of the diversity and richness of other cultures.

Lodge Loot
In September, we launched an exciting opportunity with our "Lodge Loot" project for Year 5 and 6 students. Children in Years 5 and 6 applied for different jobs around the school. These jobs ranged from helping in the new Library to assisting the Head Teacher. It has given children a chance to step up, take responsibility, and make a positive impact on our school community.
Now, here's the fun part—earning loot! By doing a great job in their assigned roles, children have earnt their "Lodge Loot." Every week they visit HR ( a child assigned to this job role) and collect their wages/ loot. This loot comes in the form of non school uniform days, sitting by their friends in an afternoon and even extra golden time. This loot can be redeemed every half term. When our children take on jobs, they learn how their actions can benefit others and contribute to a better school environment. It links closely with our school values of respect, teamwork, and making a difference.
Our jobs include:
- Caretaker ( Grounds maintenance team)
- PA
- Librarians
- HR representative
- Play Leaders
- Computer Technicians
- Assembly Monitors
- House Point Monitors
Passports - launching January 2025
Each activity has been designed to develop the children’s personal skills, whilst helping to build their general knowledge, develop their character and prepare them for life beyond primary school. Each time the children complete one of the items on their passport, they will be able to record their achievement. When the children leave us, they will have learned so much through our rich and varied curriculum and through the other opportunities they receive. The Personal Development Passport is an excellent way to celebrate this, and the experiences will give the children plenty of memories to treasure and talk about for years to come.

Aspirations Project- Life after Lodge
At Lodge Primary School, we believe that academic achievements should go hand in hand with personal growth and character development. To prepare children for the ‘Life after Lodge’ project we introduced aspirations through the ‘Little People Big Dreams’ books. We studied a range of aspirational people across the whole of the school and then took part in workshops linked to a range of careers. Through exploring various careers, our children not only discussed the technical qualifications they may need, but also the personal attributes that contribute to success. They reflected on resilience, perseverance, teamwork, and determination, recognising their significance in any chosen path.
Our children have had the incredible opportunity to learn about a range of exciting careers, as they explored the world beyond the school gates. From dancers and doctors to detectives and entrepreneurs, they interviewed professionals from diverse fields, gaining invaluable insights into their respective roles and the skills needed to succeed. Children in Years 3 and 4 explored the skills required to analyse evidence, piecing together clues like true detectives. This not only sparked their curiosity but also encouraged critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
The Life After Lodge project allowed our students to envision their future career paths. Whether they dream of standing in a courtroom as a lawyer or designing magnificent structures as an architect, our little people have big dreams, and ‘Life After Lodge’ has given them the tools to begin turning those dreams into reality.
We are immensely proud of our students' achievements throughout this project. Their enthusiasm, curiosity, and commitment to personal growth have been truly inspiring. We commend their open minds and eagerness to embrace challenges, laying the groundwork for a future filled with endless possibilities.
